Let’s talk about managing social anxiety.

Imagine this scenario:

You’re at some sort of social gathering, talking to someone you barely know, when you literally can’t think of anything to say next.

You frantically try to wrack your brain for anything you have in common – anything semi-interesting to say. To make matters worse, you look around to see everyone else in absorbing conversations, laughing and having a merry ole’ time.

Unfortunately, I’ve experienced this plenty of times. And in these moments, my first thought is usually, “What’s wrong with me? Why is everyone else so dang charismatic?”

As Thanksgiving nears, I’ve been paying extra attention to the things I am thankful for. My list is extremely easy to generate: my family and friends, my boyfriend, having a comfortable apartment, having a job, this blog, my health, my ability to exercise, all things chocolate, all things coffee… :) My list goes on and on. And I’m truly grateful for each and every one of these things in my life.

But this Thanksgiving, I’m extra thankful for the companionship and health of my two pets.

I’ve always thought that essential oils were just nice to use. Their pleasant scent is ideal for those relaxing moments: a soothing bubble bath, a meditation session, while falling asleep… Of course people use essential oils for more than just smelling, and just like with herbs and spices, I don’t doubt that they can have many beneficial effects on the body. But until recently I had never put any more thought into aromatherapy.
